The Office of Schools and Community Engagement have been on a 3-year journey implementing a new engagement model based on earlier engagement with learners, whānau, and community; reciprocal relationships/meaningful partnerships; and learner-centricity – the Pōwhiri Model.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and agile Engagement Adviser to join our Schools and Community Engagement Team, reporting to the Te Terenga Kaitiaki.
Te Terenga Schools and Community Engagement Adviser is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with a portfolio of Auckland secondary schools, school students, teachers and school community groups, listening to their needs, and seeking opportunities to partner with them to support high school students and their whānau plan for and achieve their aspirations. The role supports increased engagement with schools and communities and drives student leads.
We’re looking for a super star human who can engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds and is comfortable presenting to both small and big audiences. Make a difference and support young people into higher education!
This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent opportunity.
The salary range is $72,000 – $80,000, dependent on skills and experience.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree and/or postgraduate qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent experience, knowledge, and training.
- Experience developing, maintaining relationships with, and understanding the needs of key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and engagement skills.
- Experience developing and implementing processes, systems and services.
- Demonstrated strategic planning, management, and leadership skills within a complex environment.
- Agile experience, or an understanding of cross-function team ways of working in an agile environment.
- Demonstrable understanding, competence, and confidence of te ao Māori
